Anyone done this install? I wondering what tool or technique was used to slot the saddle.
Thanks |

You'll need a set of slotting files.
We don't recommend self installs on that pickup, fwiw. If the pickup is incorrectly slotted it effects the output balance and might not be correctable.
Feel free to call me with any questions if you decide to go ahead with the install.

I did the first install myself and messed it up. (and I'm fairly skilled - I've built guitars, banjos and mandos). That was an expensive lesson. For the second time, I sent it off to Bobby Wright, ah! much better !!!! I'd send that guitar to Beard or Bobby, or a similar experienced dobro technician (not just a luthier), to do that job. _________________ To write with a broken pencil is pointless. |

I complted the install. I was able to get my Guitar Tech to cut the saddle. The pickup with the Aura pedal sounds really absolutely amazing.
HOWEVER - If I had to do it over again I would sent it to Howard at Beard. In fact I would have had them supply the pickup and pedal as well. They were very helpful and the install prices are very resonable.
It is a tough install with sevral potential gotcha points. Thank you to Howard for your help...couldn't have done it without you! |

I did this install on my USA made Hound Dog Dobro that is my main gigging reso. Great results and while it is a finicky job, it's not out of realm of possibilities for anyone with experience in doing proper set-up on resophonic instruments. _________________ http://www.bellgardensmusic.com/
