In doing some cleanup and repair on my steel I found the initials GJ engraved on the bottom of the endplate and when cleaning up the pedal bar it was clear that the name Greg Johnson was put ont it at one time with adhesive letters. I'd just like to locate this guy and maybe get a little history on my steel. Any info would help. Thanks

I've read lots of blues articles by a Greg Johnson, but I have never met him, nor do I know how to contact him. He, however, sometimes relates to his past on "slide guitar". Might be the guy I just don't know how to contact him.

Thanks Fred, I'll keep researching the web and see what I can come up with.

Harold,

Nomadic players are difficult to locate. On one occasion, I met a steel guitarist who was located in The North Shore Area above Boston, MA. It's possible that I may have a clip of a Johnson steel guitarist. My friend Russ from Salem, MA provided me with some helpful information on a least one steel guitarist with that last name. The name rang a little bell!

Thanks Bill, I know my guitar came from the Phoenix area but that's nothing for 35 year old Steel. No telling how many times its been sold and shipped out. I just thought it would be nice to get a little history on it because it sure has it's share of battle scars.
