My first guess was Bobby Bowman. A guitar player friend in Nashville (Kelso Heston) brought it to my attention and also wants to know. Great technique.

That's Rudy Osborne! And yeah, he's one smooooooth player! If I'm not mistaken, his CD "Classic -N- Steel" (very professionally done, I might add) is still available on the forum, too!

I would like to add that I highly recommend this CD. Not just for easy listening but use it as a tool to study technique, tone and presentation of style. It truely is a cut above.

Donny and Skeeter:

Thanks a bundle. I have already emailed my friend with Rudy's name. I, personally, had never heard Rudy play before -- but now I'm one of his fans. The guy really plays with feeling. Outstanding.

I can't get to open. I doubt that's it's me. I've cut the tune on several sessions years ago, but I don't think any of the artists ever had a big release on it. Maybe a couple of "local" hits in no tellin' what area of the country. Probably in the '70's or early 80's.
BJ Thomas, I think it was, did a demo on it here in Houston. I cut the demo with him. A little later he went to Nashville, recut it there and had a monster hit with it. Smile

I must have been thinking this over when Donny posted his post. I got to meet Rudy a few weeks ago in Nashville. Really fine picker and a very gracious person.

I finally found where it was on my computer (I had down loaded it and didn't know where it was) and listened to it. I wish it was me. I'd be mighty proud to say it was, but it's not. If it is Rudy, or whomever, I must say it's a mighty fine arraingment of the tune.
It is styled like a lot of my playing, but is probably better executed than I could ever do it.
