Mike,
I just got it last night.
Already listened to the CD 3-4 times and retuned my Georgeboards to Leavitt, played through Stardust first followed by Quiet Nights...
My first impressions:
WOW , this is BIG....
The chords you're able to produce are so lush, the word velvet comes to mind.
It opens up the world of standards to the humble lap steel...it's so brilliant.
And to top it off, Leavitt was originally a lap steeler!!!
That just brings it full circle for me: I've been teaching guitar out of Modern Method for 20 years now, and all this time Leavitt was a fellow steeler!
You know, it just gets better and better!
I'm planning on doing a write-up on Running Laps.

Thanks Mike, I have really enjoyed the tab books and playalong CDs and gradually I am piecing together how to adapt the tuning to songs of my own choice, but I think there is a need for some instruction material for this tuning. |
