Being a big fan of David's great sound and technique, I was wondering what his pickup height from the strings (in quarters)he has on his George L 10-1 pickups. I have the same pickups and been experimenting with height and its affect on tone and clarity. Thanks!! |

Mitch - You may need to mail David some U.S. quarters, if that's how you want it measured. |

Good point Lee. Thanks so much for responding David! Millimeters will do if no US coins are available.
I do think pickup height can affect overall sound especially if they are too close to strings and are driving a low powered amp like 112! |

Would yoou like to share the results of your experimentation? I have been curious about this. Anyone else ever played with pickup placement. I lowered one end a little just for the heck of it. I don't believe my ear is good enough to judge. Also I would like to hear the results of those who have had customized rollers. I also found it intriguing to read in passing abput the difference in tone between a brass or steel roller. Is there a different tone between a brass rooler and chrome or is it chromed steel. Maybe I should make seperate post. I think I will wait for a discussion to break out Thanks _________________ "Oh what a tangled web we weave when we first begin to deceive" Someone Famous |
