Hi All,
I am putting together a cab for the '73 Bassman 100 I just got. Rick Johnson is building the cab (which I am really excited about!!) and I am searching for a 15" speaker to complete the rig.

I have heard such good things about the JBL D-130f and I just found one (at 8 ohms) locally. My question is: Will this speaker work well with the Bassman 100 which is a 100 watt/4 ohm amp? Or am I better off looking for something else?

Thanks -Steve-

Ideally you would put in a 4 ohm speaker capable of handling at least 100 watts. The 8 ohm D130F is neither of those. Probably sound great though, might work just fine for you, though you would be stressing that speaker if you play loud, and your amp wouldn't be able to deliver it's full power.
On paper, it's not the best match up...Jerry

I have a similar set-up. An 8ohm D130F with a Dual Showman Reverb. I have a dif. output tranny that has 2 leads, so I can go 4 ohms or 8 ohms. I'm thinking of trying a BW, cuz when I have to get loud, it sounds like the JBL breaks up a bit and it's *not* a pleasant sound to me.

Try a different speaker before you buy Tom, I had what I thought was the same speaker problem and it was the amp (Twin Reverb). FWIW Bob
