You paid 2K for a Junior? Doesn't make sense.

Asher for sale

Post by Bill Asher »

I checked out the pictures and listing of the Asher for sale. It is one of my early hand made Electro-Hawaiian Juniors that sold for $1200 and it looks to be all original and in good shape. It has my S-1 lap steel pickup that I used in the first Ben Harper model. It is a great sounding single coil lap steel pickup and it is stacked so it does have a hum cancel mode. Both Greg Leisze and Cindy Cashdollar have early models which came with two of these pickups and they love the tone. Just wanted to let people know exactly what was up for sale.
All the best,
Bill Asher

Hey Bill, if you were going to mod the pickups on an EH Jr (recent vintage) what would you do ?
...not that I'm going to, but I saw one on eBay that's been modded a bit, and was just curious...
Thanks!

Actually, mine is a custom Electro-Hawaiian. Bought from Steinar on this website a while back, and worth every penny...

I have been offering upgrades for my EH-JR with Lollar imperials -low wind in the neck. Many other options are available but we went with this as our standard after working with Bruce Bouton in Nashville. We put a set into his Asher Junior for the Reba Mcentire tour and he was extremely happy with the tone in all pickup settings. He noted it added much more clarity to the low end of neck pickup, the bite and sustain increased for the bridge pickup, and the combination he said just sounded cool. Lollar builds them for me in the wider pole spacing and we stock them, so shoot me an email if you want a set. Thanks -Bill :D
