Steel Player Survey

Post by Jim Cohen »

Some folks know that my day-job involves interviewing people and writing opinion surveys. I have just started using a new online survey technology for smaller studies and need to test it out tonight (before I use it at work tomorrow!) So I created a short steel guitar survey and would appreciate it very much if you would kindly click the link and take this very short (20 question) survey for me.

Let me say that I did not try to make it all-complete. Thus, the list of steel brands is far from complete, especially in the lap steel department, but I just put a bunch of brands that quickly came to mind, for purposes of testing the survey.

If you have 3 minutes to spare, please click the link below and take the quick survey. If anybody cares, I can even present the results afterwards.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

I did the survey. I was as honest as possible. I hope your prototype is a success.

Thanks for all your help so far, everybody. We already have 28 completed surveys, which is great. That will give me a data set to mess around with tomorrow morning before I have to go "live" with my real survey on medical treatments.

Keep 'em comin'!

I should take spelling advice from a man who spells "W" as "dubya"? ;-)

At least it wasn't the guy that asked if it was a "payed" gig...
No offense, Chuck...

I didn't know there was gonna be a test....

Really, though, it was fun. One question: Under the category, "What type of music do you enjoy playing?" did "Rock" include all the subgenres of heavy metal? Thanks :D

Nice survey, but a couple of questions should have allowed a range instead of a single whole number, like the hours a week of practice and number of gigs per month. Those never remain a constant. But nice anyway.

Wow! We're over 170 complete questionnaires; thanks! Wonder how many there will be in the morning when I wake up??

And, Richard Sinkler, thanks for your good suggestion which I'll consider if I ever decide to revise this and do it again.
