I mentioned in the "Ronnie's in October" thread that Ronnie had told be a few weeks ago that the Avanelle motel had been bought out by Best Western and that he was having trouble working out a deal for special rates. I also mentioned that we went ahead and booked a room there anyway for $65/night because we liked the convenience and restaurant. Well, my daughter called a little while ago and booked her room. They asked her if she was with any convention and she said yes, Ronnie's steel guitar convention. She got a rate of $54/night. So, we called the Avanelle back and also got the $54/night rate.
I have no way to gaurentee it, but it appears that if you mention that you are with Ronnie's show(convention), you will get a rate of $54/night. I think that is about the same rate as last year.
Anyway, just thought I'd pass this along.
See you in Hot Springs.

Ken

Thanks Ken. I had talked with Ronnie earlier today and he said they were not working with him at the Avanelle so he booked most of the Artist out at E.Com Motel.
It is good that the Avanelle are honoring what they have in the past. They had also told me the rate was $64, so we cancelled and went to E.Com. I guess it doesn't matter as long as we get a place to stay. See you there. Wayne

Mike, Ronnie has not given me the full schedule yet, but I will say this, Friday or Saturday will be great shows. Herby Wallace, John Hughey, Pee Wee Whitewing, Tom Brumley, Russ Hicks and many others will be playing both nights. So either night should be a great show. Also, no, I don't have a DSL connection. I'm old and slow.

I just wanted to add my two cents about this great show. I have been playing Ronnie's show since 1984 and I always enjoy being a small part, well I honestly shouldn't say small since I am a large person, but Ronnie is one of my favorite people of all time in the steel guitar community and if you don't know him, you need to come just to meet him and see his store. Ronnie's store is a real music store and has about anything you would want. He has some of the finest amps I have ever tried, such as: Rivera and Mesa Boogie.
Anyhow, as many of you know, one of the main reasons I go to this great show is that my favorite bar-b-que restaurant is about a block down the street. It is called McClard's and is unbelieveable. Anyhow trying to be serious, this is a great show with some top players, so try to make it if you can. Also, my bass player buddy, Ben Brogdon is going to play staff too.

Wayne,
If you had a high speed, I would have sent you some pictures that I took of you at Ronnie's in June(?). so I will just print them and give to you at the show.

Herby,
Are you sure Hot Springs is ready for Ben?
Good BBQ for sure.

Last weekend when Ronnie was here at our show the KSGA, we got to talking about the great line up of musicians on his show and lets get behind this show of his and show him our support as many as are able to get out and get to Hot Springs. It takes alot of support to keep these shows going and look at the back-up band listed, awesome! The vocals also and maybe we can twist Rob Parker in doing acouple for us.Bought Rob's CD "Dreams Of A Dreamer",it was a great buy and also I'm sure alot of great vendors will be set up....see ya in Hot Springs

Sorry, but I had to cancel going to Hot Springs this year. As I leave for the Steel Guitar Convention in Japan on Tuesday after the show I simply don't have the time. I apologized to Ronny Neighbors and he accepted it and invited me to be there next year. I expecially hate to miss this one as it is Herby Wallace's time to buy my lunch at the bar-b-que resturant!
