The singer sounds like Connie Smith to me.. then I will guess that it is Weldon Myrick on Steel

Connie Smith is the singer, but the steeler is not Weldon - that would have been too easy!

I assumed Weldon Myrick had done all the steel on Connie Smith's records. Based on the beautiful harmonics, could it be Buddy Emmons?

I once crossed paths with Doug Jernigan backing Connie Smith and that is as close as I can get.

The steel player is our fellow forumite Mr. Russ Hicks who recorded a few sides with Ms. Connie in those days.

My guess for singer was Connie, also, but my thoughts were possibly Jimmy Crawford on steel.
