My New Millennium

Post by Robby Springfield »

The new Millennium that I just received is one incredible guitar. Thanks goes out to Reece and all the folks at MSA for bringing this vision to reality. MSA has always been a very mechanically sound and stable guitar for tuning purposes and the new MSA Millennium is even far better with vast improvements in tone quality and practical things that all steel players will enjoy. Quite simply, this is the BEST guitar I have ever sat behind. I received this guitar on a recording session, I tuned it up and tweaked a few pedal pulls, played it for the rest of the day, hauled it home and set it up and didn't have to touch a single string or pedal for intonation after my first tuning...it's rock solid! The tone is very impressive to say the least...every note is crystal clear all the way across the boards on both necks. I'll leave you with this...with the ease of the way the guitar plays and feels, sounds, and plays in tune, it has made playing steel guitar fun and enjoyable again!!! Oh yea, did I say it’s also gorgeous to look at!

Congrats Robby, I know exactly what your feeling & hearing. I've had my new Millenium a little over a month now and it is an amazing instrument.

Every time I set down to it I'm reminded of how great it sounds and plays!! There's a comfort in knowing the guitar has no limitations and it's totally up to me to make it sound as good as I am capable of.

I know your enjoying yours as much as I am mine!

Sidney,

I'm glad your enjoying your guitar. It should bring you pleasure for years to come. I told someone else that the only problem I'm having is I don't know wether I want to play this thing or kiss it!

Hey Patrick,

Yea, it is nice to have something new every once in a while...kind of makes you feel guilty when you get something this good though...Let me think about that just a minute...Umm, I'll get over it!

Hey Robbie, I'm sure your Millenniun is one fine guitar. I still have the MSA that was built for me in 1974 and it is still to date a very formidable steel guitar!

"It still amazes me that anyone remembers that stuff."

For you folks that don't know Robby Springfield, I can tell you this man is "speed and accuracy personified." His lead rides on the Frenchy Burke albums are "alien" to most of us hackers. I have never heard anyone "just totally destroy 'Orange Blossom Special' on a steel guitar like this individual!!"

Robby glad you decided to join us Millennium owners. I've had my SD10 for 18 months now, playing 4 and 5 nights a week in the local 'tonks' and it is the best guitar I could have picked for the job. Light, stays in tune and has a hell of a sound with one of Jerry Wallace's TruTone pickups installed. (The first I might add.)

Ohhh, yeah. We remember it.

Hi, Robbie. I started a thread here not too long ago asking who was playing with Frenchie on one of those albums.

Great to see you here on the forum.

How can anyone NOT remember Robby's playing on those Frenchie Burke tracks? Or with Randy Cornor? That's milestone material if I ever saw it. The slow stuff is equally good - like "Mama's picture". My LPs are totally worn out by now, I need them on remastered CDs!

To John, Per, Dave, Al, and Fred,

Thanks so much for the responces and the kind words. You'll never know what kind of impact it has had on me. I hope to see each one of you somewhere soon.

Got to hear Robby back with Randy Corner and Frenchie at the Randy Corner Birthday Party. He sounded great on his new MSA and played Big Mamou better than the original cut. Frenchie said that was the first time they had played together in a long time. They all played like they hadn't missed a day.

Corky,

You sounded great with Gene. I love your playing and tell your guitar player that he knocked me out as well!
