I don't have any of these problems, as I only ever visit a church under duress

It does not matter to me one way or the other.
But it does seem funny that you are thanking GOD for your non belief. I wonder if disproving would be any easier than proving ?

I think it's more of "who's around", kids, other young musicians , curious minds etc.. When I played in Church it was also a School, the sanctuary was always open.
The Church LOCKED UP the sound booth so I guess they had some sort of concerns as well.
But, I agree that it is sad, but this has been like this forever. I remember going to Church as a kid and the Father came out on Sunday and told everyone the PA system and Mic were stolen the day before. This was back in the 60's !

If you have any instrument of value, whether you are a professional or not, you need to check out Heritage Instrument Services, www.musicians.com , I think. They are awesome and resonable. They even provide devaluation reimbursement if your guitar is damaged. This I know first hand. Check them out.

When I checked this out a few months ago, they need actual receipts of the equipment. Bummer. Much of my gear is decades old. Where is there a good place to get a true replacement value quote/receipt ? |

I had that problem with my insurance company once when my Harley, which was really old and almost a basket case, burnt up, and a friend of mine who worked at a Harley dealership straightened it out with them. If you had pictures of the equipment, maybe w/serial numbers, Seymour could probably help.
BTW, I used to have an MSA that I hated. Sounded terrible, wouldn't stay in tune, couldn't get anyone to buy it. So I broke into a Catholic church in Houston and left it there.

| I have 3 steels,and leave the Sierra at church along with the amp,and effects. I also leave a bass,and bass amp there,and a lead guitar amp. We have an alarm system too. |

For past 3 1/2 yr since I don't travel anymore, have left a steel & whole setup at the church. Never a problem, and really I guess since it is a Church thing, we do this in faith that it will be alright. However, about 40yr or so ago, I left a 6-string and amp at church all the time, and the amp was stolen along with all the church sound equipment during a break-in. The guitar was in the case under a seat in the choir area, and I guess they overlooked it.  So, I guess it boils down to not too much different from leaving it at home, where I'm sure there has been break-ins and equipment stolen. ...I do have a 2nd set-up at home (well protected with alarm system) for practice, which I don't take advantage of like I ought to. ...

Whether it's a church, school or honky tonk bar, most of the property carriers, selling insurance to those enitities, will likely NOT cover expensive musical equipment left there by others.......
NOT always the case, but a majority of the time I believe you'll find it to be the case; your claim if not denied completely, it would most likely have a very limited value, perhaps $250.00 +/-

All my gear is covered under a separate insurance policy through Heritage. They specialize in instrument related coverage. It's very affordable and offers piece of mind when I'm out playing.

I've been leaving my steel at our little Country Church for years and years, except for the times I bring it home to practice. Our Church does have insurance, but no security alarm.

| I leave my steel at church. One time we were broken into,and they took my pac-a-seat off the stage, and used it to stand on ,to get out of a window. I felt funny showing the police. Our church has insurance. |

Check your Church ins. carrier,ours do not cover personal property.
I checked with my homeowner ins.(Nationwide)My Church and home stuff are covered (very limited). The price quoted for additional coverage sounded good enough that I am in the process of getting pictures, and ser#s of all my equipment. Don't remember exactly how much,less than $100 year, policy is to be renewed in Nov. so I'll take list and pics then. I am using the value on forum prices, whereas a Nash400 goes for $300/$375,etc is what I'm basing the value.They are really good to work with on claims, had a lightening strike a couple years ago, they came through very satisfactorily..Coverage is at today's (time of loss) market value of item.

| I played at a little country church, the pastor had insurance so it didn't bother me to leave my gear there after services. And when I was a deputy sheriff, I used do extra duty (moon lighting) at a couple of churches in downtown Baton Rouge. one of them was a Methodist church. The preacher runs an ad on TV locally, where he says their hearts, minds, and doors are always open. Funny thing thing happened after the ad ran.They had a DVD player stolen from them. |
