Post by Larry Baker »

Congratulations to Ron on his induction into the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame. Well deserved, Ron and Leslie have worked hard to get there. Also, if you didn't get a copy of Ron's new CD, you should order it now. It is great. Larry and Jean

I knew Ron Elliot back when he was a baby in Nashville, playing his little baby steel, and I knew he would grow up to be something special, and sure 'nuff the Hall of Fame claimed him. We talked a long while about the old days, but some times it was hard to understand what he was saying, as he seemed to develop a very heavy Scottish brogue for some reason. I love you Ron.....Corky

Corky, Ron said he didn't start playing steel until he was 11 years old, just as he was getting out of diapers and entering the third grade. :) Seriously, he deserves the recognition, I rank him right up there with Jimmy Day as someone who plays from the heart. I appreciate his extreme patriotism also.

MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, as well as some older MSAs, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Recently added a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored blue Rose, named the "Blue Bird" to the herd. Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic again that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also added a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks.

I knew him in Nashville when he was a young pup and he hasn't slowed down a bit since then. This is One of the most deserved HOF awards in quite a while. I'm sure everybody who knows and loves Ron will agree. He has certainly paid his dues over the years.

Another discovery...............

Post by Ray Montee »

Over the years, Ron's name has been mentioned many times but I lacked/lack any factual info' on this player or his playing history.

It was truly exciting for ME, to get to hear him in St.Louis.

His selections were the greatest and far removed from the old, well-worn instrumentals from the past.

Very impressive! Very enjoyable!
