A good friend of mine uses a Hip Kitty "Chameleon" which is one of the best I've ever used for steel. And I've used quite a few! :D
Hip Kitty Products also make some other pedals, and if they're as good as the Chameleon they may definitely be worth looking into.

Very interesting thread. I'm just starting to play with effects and my PSG. I love my Hermida Zen Drive and Antelope Lovelight Gold Bar (no longer made...but lovely) for OD. I've also found it useful to put a boost before the OD in the signal chain to give that extra oomph when needed (I use either a Zvex SHO or a Freakshow Effects No. 9 for my clean boost).
