I used a Deuce for many years before I started using an Ultralinear Fender Twin...I thought it made a great steel amp...lots of clean headroom with some tube warmth...plus they are dirt cheap and they do not break.

Hey Stan,
I know this probably doesn't help you much, but I used a Peavey Deuce for years as a poor man's alternative to a Fender Twin. I really liked the amp; in fact I still have it but now have converted the cabinet with the 2-JBL D120f speakers to a small cab Session 500. This thing will scream! Wished I still had the Deuce chassis working to A-B compare to the Session 500 sound with pedal steel. I doubt the tone would be any better than my Deuce cab w/Session 500 combo, but I'm sure the tube warmth would be a desirable trait. I'd say if you can get either a Deuce or Deuce II for a reasonable price, go for it! Good luck and best wishes with your decision. Roger Smile
