Yes, Bud Carter, Barbara Mandrell, and Ron Elliot. All three were very deserving. Also, Scotty announced that Bobby Caldwell will be inducted in 2010. This decision had already been made prior to Bobby's current health problems. _________________ Darvin Willhoite
MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, a restored MSA Classic SS, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro.

It was a very moving moment, they got Bobby on the phone from the hospital and told him about the award, the crowd gave him a standing ovation. He is the first Non Steeler to be inducted. A word about Bobby, the tumor is behind the eye and sinus cavity.
He had a better day today, no word on how they will treat the cancer yet. _________________ Custom Rittenberry SD10

Those bronze plaques really need to be made by a better manufacturer.
They really make the people they're supposed to honor look downright scary.....

I am very glad to see Mr. Bud Carter and Mr. Ron Elliot inducted into the HOF.
Here goes; I really don't understand the induction of Ms. Mandrell. She is one of the finest entertainers ever, but being known for steel playing and making a major contribution to the steel guitar community???

She started out as a steel guitarist, and a really good one at that, when she was just a kid and kept it as part of her shows for many years. She introduced millions of TV viewers to steel guitar through her playing. Heck, even my Dad knew what a steel guitar was because he'd seen Barbara Mandrell playing it on TV! _________________ www.JimCohen.com

I think the honor was well deserved for all three inductees. They have all done so much to keep steel guitar alive. |

Barbara Mandrell is a fine steel player, and a consummate musician. Years ago I saw her do a show with her sisters where she started out on the pedal steel, moved over to drums, then keyboards, and a few other instruments (it was quite awhile ago and my memory isn't what it used to be, but I think she played some fiddle and even banjo as well [sorry B0b]). All that and a great singing voice too. She really deserves this honor, and I'm happy for her. And I agree with Mr. Davidson, they all three deserved and earned that award. _________________ "It's ridiculous that we still have a hole in the ozone layer. Three deserving recipients. Of course Barbara is deserving but I am very glad to see Ron and Bud get in the hall of fame. They are two of my favorite people in the business. Bud is a jewel and Ron is a great player and all around good guy. Congratulations to the three of them.

I agree. All three inductees are very deserving as the HOF not only honors the great players but also those who have made their contribution to popularizing the steel guitar and bring it to the attention of those who would otherwise probably never hear about the instrument.
Kind Regards, Walter _________________ www.lloydgreentribute.com |
