I have the latest release from The Henrys, Is This Tomorrow, and there's just no end to the creativity of Don Rooke. The CD is literally an avalanche of beautiful sounds. There are recognizable instruments, such as Dobro and Weissenborn, and then there are other sounds which will leave you scratching your head in wonderment. The CD also features angelic vocals from a number of vocalists. The arrangements are brilliant.
Actually, there are 2 discs--1 is an audio CD (multi-platform) and the other is a DVD with 5.1 music and an accompanying slideshow of Don's photography. He's an excellent photographer--I witnessed this firsthand.
If you're looking for something different which shows the steel guitar and dobro in a different light, then give this a try--I think you'll love it. Class act all the way.

I just bought this on iTunes (along with three additional tracks). On first listen, my favorite tracks are "Chair By The Window" and "Nite Skule", but I agree that it's another winner. There are many more vocals on this CD than on previous Henrys offerings, and that's a good thing given the quality of the vocals (by Mary Margaret O'Hara, Becca Stevens and Martina Sobara).
Don Rooke is taking the lap steel guitar in directions nobody else seems to be going. I look forward to repeated listening. Highly recommended! _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

Got around to check this music out today and ordered the CD - fantastic and inspiring music from what I've heard in the samples on iTunes and The Henry's website! Really looking forward to listening to the entire album.
And I did a youtube search for Don Rooke - wow! I had heard the fantastic Dobro "Goodbye Porkpie Hat" before, but hadn't seen the other clips (like the one Steve posted above). What a great and inspiring player!
Thanks for the recommendation Mike!

A BUMP for Don Rooke and The Henrys!
The CD/DVD "Is This Tomorrow" is wonderful (beautiful photos set to music on the DVD) and so is Don's solo album "Atlas Travel" (I'm sure the other Henrys releases are great too, but I have not yet heard them).
Highly recommended and very inspiring outside-the-box steel playing!
