My mother passed away

Post by Jim Sliff »

My mom passed away yesterday. She'd been in ill health for years and her body simply gave up.

She and I had not had any kind of relationship for years, which I'd prefer not to talk about. But please pray or throw some good karma towards my brother, who is the executor and in seriously bad shape with lung cancer; his wife, who is trying to hold things together; my 14 year old son, who is sort of a blank wall about it right now and worries me, and our daughter, who has been through some awful times and is, despite all her recent successes, very fragile. She's the only one from our family who still talked to her grandmother periodically and took the news very, very hard.

Thank you.

Prayers for your family.

My mother passed away alittle over a year ago and I really miss her. I know she is with JESUS now and that is my biggest comfort.

I will pray for you and your family and that you all have peace. Since my mother passed away my sisters are not speaking.

JESUS says we must forgive others no matter what. It's not easy, but with GOD's help we can do it. It is the only way that peace will ever be established. If others do not forgive they will not find peace but if you forgive you will have peace. GOD will deal with the rest. Ask HIM to help and leave it in HIS hands.

LORD, I pray for this family and their loss and GOD give them YOUR peace! In JESUS CHRIST's Name!

May GOD bless!

Thanks guys. It's a really complicated situation that is very tough physically (just due to mental strain) on my brother; since this happened Friday he had a bad reaction to one of the chemo "cocktail" compounds and while we do not know for sure yet that may seriously affect his prognosis. I'm trying to do everything I can to help but due to mom's wishes I'm somewhat limited in what I can control...we think, though, as executor he can still sign duties over to me, which will be a Godsend - he's 120 miles away as well and can't travel. We're hoping that when the attorney gets back in town tomorrow he'll be able to work with what Greg (my brother) really needs - which is to do as little as possible.

Thanks again for the posts and emails.

My thoughts and prayers for you all, Jim.

The Lord knows the details
and that's all that matters.

If somehow, some way,
you can put in His hands,
leave it there and trust Him,
He can work it all out perfectly.

He has for me and He will for you.

Sincerely your friend-
Joe in LA

Thanks everybody! We're doing fine; my concerns now are for my brother, who doesn't seem to be capable of handling the executor's gig for long due to his illness. Mom left land mines all over a new will and trust as she was not quite "right" mentally, and her neighbor/lawyer I think saw it as an opportunity. Since she disliked my wife (for, as a former banker, offering her some investment advice; she thought my wife was trying to "steal her house", which is absurd)we're sliced out of almost everything, which really doesn't bother me.

But the door is wide open for the attorney to make a killing. He tried to set a trap where if we contest when new California law goes into effect in January (nullifying "no contest" clauses), he becomes the executor, family members are banned from buying her house, and legal fees come out of my kids' inheritances. It's really ugly. It looks like I'm going to have to flip the 9 pounds of paperwork into my attorney's lap and let him decides what's best (he's my brother in law and won't be looking for the deal with the most fees).

It's just very sad.
