And I thought I was playing the piece too slowly. I have DeWitt Scott's "Gospel Pedal Steel Guitar" and so I thought I would play it first without listening to the CD. The metronome setting of 110 sounded about right so I practiced at that tempo then upped it to 120. Then when I played against Scotty's CD I thought he must be just playing it slow so I could play against it. He played it at about 80 bps which I thought was too slow, but must be about right. I probably do that to several pieces where I play against tab only and think it sounds better at a faster pace. I remember some post somewhere discussing the Steel Guitar Rag where that piece was first played slower than we hear most players play today.

Sherman, here is one by Dave Seddon, about 90 bpm. Sounds right to my ears. If you emailed Dave, he might even send you the track to it....
