If I buy a loaded-up used iPod to record music on, I can strip it out with a free iTunes download, right? I just want to store backing tracks on the iPod, maybe through my computer or maybe through the Alesis Protrack:

I do not want to get hooked into some monthly-fee thing, and I don't want to walk around going deaf 18 hrs a day like every one under 30. |

Hi David;
I use my Mac and I POD shuffle for playing with music tracks, too.
The I Tunes download is free.
You should be able to clean/erase all of the existing music from your computer, or the IPOD itself.
FYI... I Tunes sells their songs at .99 cents each plus tax, there's no monthly fee.

You install iTunes (free download) on your computer. You connect the iPod and tell iTunes to sync with it. Since iTunes doesn't have any music libraries yet (you haven't added any), the sync basically wipes everything from the iPod.
When you want to add anything to the iPod, you add it to your iTunes library on your computer, then connect the iPod to the computer and sync up. You don't have to be online to do this. It's all done locally, on your computer and your iPod.
You never have to buy anything at all from the iTunes Store. I had over 20 GB from my CD collection in my iTunes library and my iPod before I bought any music at all from Apple. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

OK, thanks - I'm going to get one soon - blue - purple? I can watch TV while I drive... I'm real iPod ignorant, my guitar students all run around frying their brains on them but I only buy stuff when there's a need for me. Those earbuds look like a deafness epidemic will be upcoming, and I like my hearing. I have a Boss looper that hold 11 tracks, but I want to get a bit more fancy with my own practicing tapes. Never less, always more more more... And I don't want to try to "fix" Band-in-a-Box by spending money on it - cheezmo in, cheezmo out. My own backing tapes are refreshingly sloppy & organic. |

If you have a Mac and the iPod was used with a Windows PC, or vice versa, you probably will have to reformat the iPod. iTunes will do that for you.
That's what I had to do that Win -> Mac |
