Just got the sad news that upstate steeler and good friend Jack Wyatt passed away yesterday. Funeral arrangements have not been published yet, but should soon be available at greenvilleonline.com. Keep Jack and his family in your prayers.

I've known of Jack since I was around 9 years old, just as I was beginning my musical journey. He was a gentle giant and a super person and a fine Steel Guitarist! He will be missed at the Saluda Steel Convention as I don't think he ever missed one. He is where we all will be one day and I plan to see him again.

Like Steve,I have also had the honor of knowing
Jack since the early 70's.He was always willing
to help and was a great friend.He was a very good
steel player.He played with great touch and tone,
and in good tune always.He always played from the
heart.
The Marlen I currently play,I purchased from
Jack in '86.
I saw Jack last sunday at the Saluda steel show.
I was glad I had the chance to talk to him,even
tho,I did'nt know this would be the last time.
He was sitting at a table with Ray Charping,
another steel player and good friend.I walked
over and patted Jack on the shoulder and told
Ray ,this is one of my steel guitar "heroes".
And he was truely that.I know he will be greatly
missed,but he would not want to come back now
because i know he is walking with the LORD in
heaven.

My condolences to Mr Jack Wyatt's family and friends.I just saw him a couple of weeks ago..he was his same polite, and friendly self..not a hint of this tragic happening.
I have known Mr Jack for several years, and it was always good to see him, and chat with him.I have a tape he sent me with some music I was unable to find.That will make the tape more memorable to me. He was always helpful, and would do things to help others.
And he was a very good steel player..He played "in tune", and had great touch and tone.I tried to get him to teach me some things..he said for me to come visit him, and he would show me anything I wanted to know..I'm sorry I didn't make the time to go visit with him...

Jack Wyatt
I chatted with Jack at Saluda couple weeks ago and was sad when I heard he had passed.
Jack was one of ole Codgers group and would drive down from Greenville and play all day with us.He also came to my house and spent the day with me to set up some of his new equipment.
Fine person,going to miss him.
