What's the best way to measure a Steel to insure the case fits? I assume Length, width and depth ( How do you measure depth ? .... top of the changer or the top of the keys or both?) What am i missing?

Thanks

Mathew, I build my customer's cases to the instrument's dimensions. Length, width, and height. www.hattoncases.com

I measure to the top of the keys, or the changer, and whichever is the highest, I add 1/2 inch.
Then I make rubber 'stands' at the aforementioned height to seat the guitar on when it's in the case.

I also check the underside to see if there's anything (like a folded up knee lever) that might stop the lid from closing, and modify my case dimensions accordingly.

Here's some photos of my Marlen case, which is still a work-in-progress

Thomas cases sends out a drawing so you can mark down all the places he needs to fit.
Hope this helps.
Thomas uses a imitation looking like leather, my Carpet case acts like a magnet and picks up everything it touches. Thomas has built Emmons cases for years, and now make cases for david Jackson and others.
