I had a great first lesson or at least what I consider great. I know I have tons to learn but I can tell you I have been bitten by the steel bug.

A HUGE thanks goes out to my teacher and great steel player Big Ben Turner.

I hope i can be half the player he is. Smile

Howard, you'd better mention that practice is important.

George, You are hooked for sure now. The steel guitar gets in your blood and you will never be the same. It has brought me many hours and years of enjoyment and I am sure it will do the same for you. Best wishes.

It would be interesting to hear about what was covered in this significant lesson. Comments?

Bar Technique, Right Hand Technique, String Groups, Basic layout of the frets, Tuning, A&B Pedals, Vibrato, All of the basics!

Homework: practice string groups/inversions picking forwards, backwards, as a group. Learn the chords, learn the chords with A&B pedals down, practice basic 3-chord progressions & bar moving without having to count frets.

We went over quite a bit of Q&A about the instrument and what does what and so on as well.

George has a ways to go, but is doing very well. Very Happy

Saw my teacher Big Ben Turner on fiday. He said I was picking my inversions alot better Smile ...
I have been having a super tough time with Jeff Newmans right hand alpha system. I really dont think
I have come too far but I will not be defeated. I will learn this fantastic instrument.

Anyway thats the end of my rambling update

Thank you again to Big Ben Turner..
