The sound man at the Clark Co Fair in Ridgefield Wa must have been a steel player because he had Randy's Zum filling the fair grounds on every song. Why you would think it was a steel show with the singer filling the holes for the steeler. Just great.
Randy was using new Alumitone (sp) pickups and they were clean and clear from top to bottom. He also used a Revalation with two TC Furlong cabs. Randy has the thickest and cleanest sound you would ever want to hear. How does he do that?
Lee Ann is one knocked out singer, she just blows me away and she is country with a capital C.
I told Lee Ann to pay the sound man double as he had it going last night.

Wish I could have seen one of LW shows when they were up here. I was down near Dallas, Oregon on Sat. nite and drove past the Clark County Fair grounds Sunday morning on the way up to Tacoma for an afternoon gig.
Did you get together with Randy for some jamming?
My Sunday gig was big fun. Picking guitar with Jimmy Webb on steel. Jimmy is truly one of the great players and sounds great on his '67 Emmons. I picked a few on Jimmy's guitar, but he's about 5'9" and I'm around 6'2" and I couldn't get my right knee all the way under his guitar.
I sure do like the way you pick there, too Larry.

Many thanks folks. This has been a fun trip. I can see why people want to live out here. Absolutely beautiful! Great weather also. I just walked by a sign that said 70 degrees.
I wanted to go up to the top of Mt. St. Helens and hit a golf ball into it. They said they were only allowing b@njos to be thrown in at this time. 
Larry and I got together yesterday. He brought his Scheerhorn over. What a great guitar. I tried to get him to trade for my Goldtone but he wouldn't do it. The offer still stands! 
We're off to Bakersfield tonight for a show on Thursday, then to Ventura on Friday. I'm betting it's going to be a little warmer in Bakersfield. |

Randy and I spent 4 hours together talking about the old days, our friends that have passed on, gear, gear, gear, dobros, how great Lee Ann sings, the great guys in the band, Portland, the Big E, oh did I mention gear.

Randy how was HOT Bakersfield and Ventura? Did you get JD to come out and see the show?

Hey Larry,
Bakersville was indeed HOT! We did have a quite the time there though. It was the 80th birthday celebration for Buck. The Crystal Palace is loaded with pictures and memorabilia of Buck's career. The house sound system plays the vintage Buck and the Buckaroos songs non stop when the band isn't playing. Seeing the old photos with Tom and his ZB while hearing that music played brought back memories.
Ventura had a high temp of 70 degrees. Absolutely beautiful!
We're home for a few days then we'll fly back for a show in Lancaster CA the 21st. I've got a golf outing lined up for that one. Hope the weather is good. |

Good Morning Randal G. I'll bet Ms. Judy is glad to have you home for a few days, bet she has a "honey Do" list a foot long. Alvin is right, 70 to 78 degrees for the Ventura area is normal. Lived in Camarillo for a number of years. Sorry you didn't get to see Petree while in Bakersfield. Lived there also, 105 to 115 is normal for BF this time of year.
