Blackie not only sells Steel Guitars but is a
master craftsman at repairing any kind or make or model Steel Guitar. He will also restore old models usually regardless of condition. About a hundred years ago when Blackie started playing I was one of his mentors for a period of time. He's always been a good friend. I wish Blackie was part of the Forum, I know he has many stories and experiences he could share.

10-4 on old Blackie! He's been a friend of mine for a very long time. When I got out of the Army I had no money or credit but had found a playing job and didn't have an amp. Blackie sold me an old Standel and let me pay him some each week until it was paid off. I've always appreciated how he'd help out musicians when they needed it. Somewhere around 1980 or '81 I was working a club (Shire's) on Beach Blvd. in Stanton, California. One night it was broken into and all of the band's amps, guitars, etc. were stolen. Although they got my amp, they left my steel guitar on the bandstand. Blackie came to the club that evening with two amps for me to try out. I kept 'em both for a couple of weeks before deciding on the one I wanted. I asked him how much he wanted each week and he just said "Give me what you can afford".....A super guy, JH in Va.
Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!!
