Tony, I emailed the schedule I received yesterday from Scotty. Anyone else wanting this can email Scotty and they should give it to you. I was wondering too why it wasn't yet available.

I don't know if you've heard Jake Hooker or not.
If you have or haven't, the price of the ticket is worth seeing Jake. Jake will cram good old 4/4 Shuffles down your throat all night long. He's one of the best I've ever heard. A "COUNTRY" steel players dream. He and Dickey will show us all how it's done. What a band this is.
Just my 2 cents worth. I'm not gonna get to be there this year.

That be He Donna. They were inducted into the SGHOF a couple years ago. Santo was not there and Johnny played the steel. I believe Santo was the steel player with the band and on the recording. Johnny seemed a tad nervous but did an admirable job at the ISGC.
I have heard that they do not perform together anymore, but I don't know if that is true.

I was hoping Russ and Jimmie (Laneys Band ), would be playing again this year. Certainly always one of the St. Louis highlights each year.Russ needs to be inducted into the hall and added to the wall....I guess I'll have to settle for looking for Smiley for three days and that is no easy task.Thank god I'll have plenty of Irish and Austrailian help.

Some of the best picking goes on in the vendor rooms and the Carter booth at the convention. I spend more time going over all the brands of steels and personally meeting about a zillion steel players at the convention than actually sitting down and catching a set.
If you are in the market for a new steel its the best place in the world. You can talk to the builders and go over there steels with a fine tooth comb. Then you often can hear one brand being played on stage and compare how it sounds back to back with other instruments played mostly through the same amp.
For me the trip will be worth it to hear Charleton playing his bolt on Zum. And then getting a chance to see so many friends.

I see the schedule posted on forum. Of course, the schedule has changed. I was hoping to wait until the schedule was complete. I will do my very best to have the information for you by Monday evening or sometime Tuesday. I'm sorry that some people put the success of the Convention on just one or two players. Buddy, Lloyd, Tommy, Ralph, Herb, Paul are always welcome and are always invited. They had to cancel and we should respect their decisions. Scotty.

I have gone to Scotty's convention every year since 1985 and have never come away disappointed because of the lineup. I realize that we all have favorites but sometimes it's just not possible due to a variety of circumstances to put everyone's favorite player on the show. After having done the Gospel Steel show for 12 years, I can assure you all that it is difficult at best to come up with a lineup that pleases everybody. I know Scotty and his heart and he tries to do the best show he possibly can and must live with the trying situations that arise as he puts the program together. I have heard criticisms from time to time about who is on the show and who isn't and find that for the most part those who critisize do not know what Scotty goes through to make the decisions. I find it sad to think that just because one player isn't there that people would stay away. Please reconsider your decision as I find the fellowship and friendships that have developed for me across the years to be worth the time and effort to go. I personnally am looking forward to another great year at the ISGC. Stop by and see us at the Gospel Steel table. There will be free coffee and lotsa good fellowship at our booth.

I'm sorry to say I don't think I'll be able to make it to St Louis this year, my first absence in many years. But I have a pretty darn good reason: my 15-year old son who plays alto sax and started his own jazz combo this year, has been invited to play with his group at a local jazz festival (where he'll also get to meet Bill Cosby). It happens over Labor Day weekend in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and proud papa is gonna be there come hellorhighwater.
Having seen the ISGC lineup, I know I'll be missing another fabulous convention, but... I'm sure y'all understand.
