Baxter Springs Kansas Cowtown Days is Aug. 4-7 this year. Just like last year the Kansas Steel Guitar Assoc. is providing the Friday night entertainment. This is a free event and it runs from 7:30 to 10:00pm Friday the 6th of Aug. Last year Austin Stewart and Jerry Newberry closed the evening for us, this year they will be opening the show. Hope to see everybody along beautiful Spring River in Kiwanis Park on Friday the 6th of August.

Hi. This is Austin's mom. Austin & Dad are looking forward to playing this festival again this year. Everyone had a great time last year. It's our home state so we are extra proud to be there. I hope everyone will come out & hear all the KSGA members play. A wonderful group of people!

Sounds like it will be a nice cool evening to sit out and enjoy the music in Baxter Springs under the stars. Will be there with some or all of the Smith Brothers Band.

Well, another Cowtown Days has come and gone and what a good job was done by everyone. Austin Stewart & Jerry Newberry, Douglas Hudson and the Smith Brothers Band, Lee Ogle and The Rick Cook Band really cooked. What a job that they're doing to promote the steel guitar for the State of Kansas and the KSGA.I just want to personally thank them for their work. Also thanks to Bob Taylor and Paul Troop for their help loading and un-loading. This is a good way to get started promoting our convention which will be Oct. 1,2,3. Thanks to the Baxter Springs Chamber of Commerce for letting us be a part of Cowtown Days. Great job Guys!

I'm one of those who have always been upset because the new Interstate eliminated that curve through Baxter Springs that Highway 66 always took!
I've got to go back there and visit sometime....to heck with the new road! www.genejones.com [This message was edited by Gene Jones on 07 August 2004 at 04:29 PM.] |

Gene, that curve on old "66" is still here! Its called Rainbow Curve and they still have the bridge as a "66" relic. We'd love to have you come up to our convention the first weekend in October. I'll be posting in a few days about our convention and all the details and steelers who's invited.
