Good Morning from extremely hot Vienna!

This week's clip goes back to 1950. It is a tough one but a great trip back to the past. A little extra hint: The track was recorded in Los Angeles and the steel player is a member of the Hall of Fame.

Well it sounds like it does have that style like Little Roy but also sounds like Shot Jackson so I'll guess Shot Jackson on steel.

This is the best pic of the guy I can find. He had a top 10 hit in early 1951.

Here's another hint for the steel player: He was born in Hawaii and became a well-known session player in California in the 1940s and 50s.

By the way - the clips features quite an all-star lineup with Porky Freeman on guitar, Wade Ray on Fiddle and Cliffie Stone on bass.

The artist is RAMBLIN JIMMY DOLAN. The steel player could be an early Speedy West. Ohterwise, I'm not sure. I think whoever it was, was instructed to play a certain style on the record. Jimmy had a great Country voice and could have been a super star. Prior to his Capitol recordings back in the middle to late 40's I played on some of Jimmy's songs on "Modern-Hollywood" records. I was just getting my "sea-legs" playing steel so my playing was not that impressive. These songs were included on an Album called "Swingbillies". Jimmy Dolan was always involved with running Car Dealerships in Co. Calif. which was his main source of making a living.

Billy, you are right. That is Jimmy Dolan. Paul was right on the steel player, it is Freddy Tavares.
