I have a variation of this that I really like, it is made to take different body depths and the legs can be locked at different widths:

You won't be able to lock all models, most don't have that feature. Mine is called "RockStand", but when I googled for it I could only find stands for multiple guitars... _________________ "Play to express, not to impress"

Elderly has a nice selection of stands. Here's an adjustable violin stand. You could even hang your pick and bar bag from the bow hook!
And another for b@njo/guitar:

I had that problem and made a craddle out of some scrap wood that would slip onto those bottom pins that the guitar body sits on and it worked pretty good. |

Which is the kind I use, although they are angled just for this picture:

I'm using FretRest stands by Proline for laps at home. They can be narrowed down for the narrow width of a lap steel. They do not lock but I've never had one slip. These are available with "electric" body depth lower arms also.
I'm not sure I'd trust these on stage but typically play consoles with legs live.
When I had Gramp's fiddle gone over they talked me into that cool little box to display it with. The fiddle's home is on top of the Leslie. The steels stay on the floor and were moved up there for the pic.
I use a five place Rockstand on stage for the armpit guitars Like Lynn's The only issue I have with it is that you must be real carefull with guitar straps so they don't tangle when you pick one up.
Just my 2C,

Don,
I thought about making a wood one but I need something collapsable and I just don't have a good design for one like that.
Lynn,
your reso's look sweet. Would be cool if that type of stand could hold both standard and small lap steels. I actually do like single stands though because I like to keep guitars in different rooms at home for easy access
Rich,
I like the way those FretRest's look. Are they similar to the RockStand in the way it holds the guitar? I love the violin stand... gives me ideas for making a stand for display at home. _________________ https://markmansueto.bandcamp.com/

Mark what I'm talking about just slips on and off takes about 6 seconds. I'd send you a pic but I'm not in a position to do that right now. If you have an interest send me an email. |

Got a hold of one of those multiple guitar stands a few years ago for $30. I use it for a Tele, Regal reso, acoustic and I have 2 String Swings attached for fiddle and mandolin. It would work for a lap steel as long as the neck scale was long enough. |
