Any Jon Rauhouse fans?
I've been listening to his albums today and they're really good. Lots of help on them from Calexico, Neko Case, and Kelly Hogan. His version of Marty Robbin's "Big Iron" is really good.

Count me as a fan. Those three solo albums offer some nice tones and vibe, and an appealingly subtle and relaxed approach to a wide variety of styles. (The last one had, I think "Theme From Mannix" and "A String of Pearls", along with the aforementioned "Big Iron", to give a sense of the range.)
The new Neko Case album features some imaginative textural work from him; on one track he sounds sort of koto-like.

Just returned from a Neko Case Show in KC. Excellent night of music. She has a beautiful voice and the sound guys did a great job. Really enjoyed the whole band. Jons playing was nice and edgy. Fit in very well with Nekos music. Looked like he was playing a MSA through either a Fender Deluxe or a Twin? He had two amps on stage and it was hard to tell from where I was. Sounded like maybe through the Deluxe and he was pushing it some. Anyway cool stuff!
I'll check out some of his solo music.

Those solo albums are great, I love the tone he gets. When I saw him with Neko a few years ago he had a Twin with a 15" speaker that I could see. I got to speak to him a bit afterwards and he was a very nice guy. Though I wasn't playing steel much at that point or else I would have asked some more nerdy steel guitar questions.
