Southwest Airlines has St. Louis as their featured destination this week. I was able to reserve a room at the Millenium Hotel by going through Southwest's web site. I was told by the hotel two months ago that they were sold out. Apparently there are rooms availble if you go through the right channels. The rate ($79) was also lower than the convention rate.

Great bit of info. Thanks info posting it.

Make sure you a confirmation number and call the hotel to confirm it before going.

The hotel has admitted to overbooking in the past, causing lots of grief. They say they have to anticipate a percentage of cancelations.

Right you are, Joey. I think they may have learned a thing or two a couple of years ago, like even if you have cancellations you'll have plenty of steelers wanting to move into the convention hotel. They should set aside their overbooking statistics for that weekend because they really don't apply.

I've never had a problem in the 3 times I've stayed there, but I've never arrived much later that 5 PM, and usually arrive around 3 PM.

Good advice. My wife did call the hotel, was given a confirmation number by them, and was assured that we do in fact have a room.

I just looked at this on Southwest's web site. The fares have to be booked by midnight tonight, July 8.

Then I looked at the air fares themselves, and Dallas Love Field isn't listed. I guess they must have a non-compete clause going with DFW for that destination.

All the airfares seem low now. I saw a round trip from Los Angeles for $156.

Also keep this in your pocket.

I booked a room over at the Adams Mark..normal rate $109

by joining and using the ENTERTAINMENT CLUB
card the rate is $79 for the same room.

Entertainment is that arganization that provides discount books with coupons in every city in the USA. When you actually become a member (on-line) $25/year you get a huge local book and the membership card which is valid at places all over the USA that honor it.

The 2004 membership sells for $5 right now.

Just remember to choose hotels that are affiliated and ask for the Entertainment rate.

Thank you Anne Fabian for this bit of information..

Yes I know the Adams Mark is 2 blocks down the street for the Millenium.
