Herman, thanks for the comments. And I agree..I have heard several versions by Forum members that have been totally awsome and really inspired me as well.
I have been asked to tab out my simple version and I am in the process..and will post it on my website and the TAB section for a free download. Hopefully done in a week of so.
This is a great tune to play and I also feel every Steeler should play some version of it..
here is the MP3 again for reference:
Star Spangeld Banner
God Bless the USA ..

I have never served our country in the military but I love our patriotic songs. I enjoy playing the National Anthem as well as the other songs that honor our country. I once had a steel player tell me he had trouble playing those songs. I love the tunes and the lyrics and give honor to those men and women in the military who have made this country what it is today. The version played on this topic is a tremendous version of the Star Spangled Banner. |

I just need to state that Dougs version above is the one that most inspired me to play this song. I first learned it from his website TAB and it really has stuck. I consider Dougs version the reference for me.
If you learn to play Dougs version you pretty much can add or subtract phrases as desired.
Thanks Doug..

Hmmmmm now that Tony mentioned it that is where I learned to play the Stars Spangle Banner. Yes I got it off Doug Beaumier's Web sight and thank you Doug. We missed you at the R.I. Steel Guitar Show.I'm back up north .I'm in Oxford Maine and we love it here beautiful country. Snow does not bother me I'm used to it after 60 some years. they can have the heat in the south.I did met a lot of great steel players and freinds down there.I will miss them and all the great steel shows I went to and played in.
