Yesterday Mojo (XM-12) played Hank Williams Jr.'s song that is a tribute to Don Helms. The steel at the end choked me up and brought tears to my eyes.
Perhaps this has already been discussed before but I'm on a slow connection and searching is not easy.
Could somebody tell me who did the steel in that tune? It is magnificent. |

Your right Brett, It was Paul Franklin, and a great job on it too.
The song is "LAST DRIFFIN' COWBOY"
And Ray It brought big ole tears to my eyes too.
I miss him so much. I try to talk with Hazel at lease once a week. She is doing fine

And, if you listen really close, Hank talks about our instrument in a few lines, first sayin' cryin' steel, then in one part, he says, "I'm gonna play his steel guitar licks all night long".

| Guyus yhis was one great steeler and afine gentelman. I met Don a year ago in June at the Middle Creek Opry south of Louisburg, Kansas. We talked for an hour one of the great highlites for this old man and steeler |
