The wife and I attended the Sat. nite session of The West Texas Western Swing Festival in Snyder, Tx. Got to see Billy Mata and Texas Tradition, Eddie McAlvain and The Mavericks, And some guy they called Darrell McCall and The Tennessee Volunteers. Got to see upstart young steel guitar players Edgington, Stephens, and some guy they called Overby. Edgington's Zum was singing as usual, Stephens keeps the cleanest and shineyest setup ever and plays great too. But I need to get that Overby guy over to the house and teach him some licks. (yeah right). McCall had Justin Trevino on bass and on sing.
The most special time of the night was when Eddie McAlvain asked all the veterens to come to the front where he honored them and sang "There's A Star Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere". What was so neat was that there were somewhere near 115 of them.

Hi Danny,I've played the Snyder festival for the last several years. It is always a fun gig. I'd like the get that "Overby guy" over to my house too. Roger

Roger, I was the ugly guy in the Zumsteel cap that bothered you while you were setting up. I always enjoy visiting with you. Great set. I missed some of it because a storm had hit home and I had a tank battery on fire. I enjoyed what I heard as always.

Roger and the boys sounded great as always. Dickie was superb. But on Friday you missed two of the best. Jim Lossberg and Randy Rienhardt. Great music for 4 days.

I wish I could just get a room and take in this whole thing. My job just won't let me. Mark I wish I'd known you were there. I could have bugged you to death like I did Roger. The Wichita Falls festival is good too.

That was a great show this year. Wish I could have caught it all.

Mark,

Sure was a pleasure meeting you. See you soon, I hope.

Sorry, I forgot to mention Jr. Knight, a good friend and superb player. You sounded great on your Rains. Can we just chalk this one up to "old timers disease" and let it go at that?
