If you are referring to the Secunia software inspectors (online or offline), most of us are using them. I advise running at least the online software inspector every week or two. While some users experience errors in the reports, most don't.

The Secunia Personal Software Inspector must be updated prior to running it, as it uses on on-disk downloaded database. The online software inspector is updated by Secunia whenever any software it monitors has received an update or patch.
