Larry, this chart from the Magnum website summarizes the differences in the Carter and Magnum steels:

Also, if you have never visited Carter's website before, there is a ton of good information on not only the Carter line, but PSG in general.

I also had a Magnum. Very nice guitar, but I traded for a D-10. If finances would have allowed, I would have kept it as well. :(

The Carter and the Magum share the same fretboard however the carter has many different finish options and the Magnum is Mica only. The Magnum has a powdercoated aluminum frame. The Magnum also has a newly re-desinged undercarriage and changer system than the Carter. Both great guitars!!

There are cosmetical and some minor undercarriage differences.
The biggest difference is probably that the Magnum is sold through dealers, Carter is custom ordered to your specs and from Carter only. Both are very good guitars.

Thanks fellow pickers for your info,I picked all day sunday and enjoyed every bit of it. I think what I enjoy about the Magnum other than the wonderful sound is that it stayes in tune. Many years ago I played a Sho Bud Pro II had a hard time keeping it in tune until I had Mac Adkins work on it for me and was much better after that. thank for your info and keep picking

The legs! I don't care for those kind of (extruded?) legs where the only height adjustment is a little screw on the back legs like the Magnum has. Otherwise a fine steel.
