I got a call from FEDEX today. They are going to send someone out to my house to inspect the guitar, case and the packing material. The lady from FEDEX told me that if they pay me my declared value, I will have to give up the guitar to FEDEX as salvage. I don't want a steel that doesn't work, and I have tried to tell everyone that I speak to at FEDEX this same thing. I told her that was fine with me. They are supposed to call me back with a time for a rep from FEDEX to come by. I first shipped this on June 03, 2009, and filed my claim on June 05, 2009. I wonder how much longer this is going to continue? This has been a long two weeks! I guess it just seems longer since I don't have a steel now.

FEDEX claim settled
June 25, 2009
It took 28 letters, several phone calls and I don't remember the emails that I sent out, but FEDEX paid my claim. I got my declared value plus my packing and shipping charges back. The check arrived this morning.
I understand that mistakes can happen, but I followed every "RULE" that FEDEX asked for , and I kept getting my claim denied. I finally had to resort to writing a bunch of letters and making a lot of phone calls. All I can say is don't give up. If you are in the right, don't cave in! I am so glad that this is over.
Now I am looking to purchase a SD-10 with 3 floors and 5 knees. I'll have to go and pick this one up. I am a little gun-shy about having it shipped to me.
To everyone on the forum, thanks for putting up with me for the past 20 days or so.
