Emmons on Prairie Home Companion, NPR

Post by Billy Henderson »

Got this from Reggie: According to the preview on NPR today, this week's Prairie Home Companion will be broadcast from the Ryman in Nashville and feature Buddy Emmons, Alison Krause and BR-549.

NPR's site says it will be aired today (Sat) at 5:00 PM Central time. May want to check it out.

Well I heard part of it, the music was just fine. The guy in charge is from Minnesota and me being a redneck from the Mississippi Delta, I had a complete disconnect with the humor Image. Not taking anything away from the good folks from Minnesota.
[This message was edited by Billy Henderson on 01 May 2004 at 04:58 PM.]

[This message was edited by Billy Henderson on 01 May 2004 at 05:00 PM.]

Great from start to finish! What a highlight to hear Buddy play THE WALTZ YOU SAVED FOR ME! We thank Garrison for this feature.

I got tuned in just at the end of BR549's first number and Garrison was talking about
distracting the bass player.
What a great combination of young and old including Johnny Gimble with BR on My Window Faces the South as well as that gal who recently moved to Nashville.

Oh, My.....WOW.....
What a show. Image I listen to NPR thru Louisiana Public Broadcasting quite a bit. I Got Lucky today going to Band Practice, and just about FORGOT that it was to be on.(90.1 FM) Today's show was GREAT from start to finish. What a "Ho-Down" THAT was. Image
Buddy, What can I say...Your "THE MAESTRO." I just wish that All the People who heard you today on the Radio REALLY KNEW just How much YOU, Sir, Have Contributed thru the years and STILL contribute in so MANY WAYS. That was some mighty fine words you said about Bud Issacs and how he inspired You, and how he played the First PEDAL Steel on a "Cut" called "Slowly" & how Bud's playing Changed EVERYTHING pertaining to PEDAL Steel guitar. BTW, Your Performance of "The Walze you saved for me" was ABSOLUTLY STUNNING. Image
Thanks, "BIg E"..And God Bless You and Yours.

Yes Buddy, that was just great!

His playing is always fantastic, but did it hit anybody else how particularly IN TUNE he sounded?
As great as Johnny Gimble and the other fiddler were, I still thought I felt them starting to get a little "pitchy"...but then it seemed like Buddy kind've brought the whole thing back to the right tone-zone with his great accompanyment.
