I've got a like-new BMI s-10 that has no history of mechanical issues. My Lkr is sticking though! It lowers Es to Ebs. The notes will not return to E's unless I reach my hand down and tap the knee lever, which causes it to snap back into place. I've looked at everything and don't see it catching anywhere, although it seems like it's happening near the spring or right at the lever. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, I'm completely new to this. Thanks,

Will, I'm not at all familiar with BMI guitars, however I have an 80s Sho~Bud Pro1 that had this trouble. I removed the helper spring from the finger and that fixed it. _________________ '73 Sho~Bud Pro II, '71 Emmons D-10, '75 Sho~Bud Maverick, Guyatone D-8, Session 500, Nashville 112, Sennheiser e609 |

Do yourself a favor...go see someone who knows about pedal steels. Problems like this are hard to diagnose unless you're actually looking at the guitar. You don't want to go making willy-nilly changes unless you know for sure what's wrong. |

Sounds as though the cross rod could be binding somewhere. _________________ Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator. Telonics TCA-500, Webb 614-E, |

See if this nut needs to be loosened just a tad--
And see if the nylon tuning nut is catching in the endplate. |

I had a GFI S-10 that had this problem. I asked Bud Carter about it and he said the finger on the changer was the likely culprit. I checked it out and it was. A little tweak of the finger and never had any more problems. |

Well, it appears that I just needed to lube where the rod attaches to the finger and that solved the problem. I guess that's a pretty important aspect of steel upkeep? Thanks for all the replies,
