Topic: What is standard height? |

When I measure the way I've been told to, measure front legs at a slight angle from the floor to the body I get 27-1/4" exactly. I've read that this is not standard height, that in fact it's a couple inches taller than standard. Anyone?

Standard height is 26" from bottom of endplate to floor, straight down, not following the leg angle.

It always seems to me that standard height is an inch lower than what it takes to get my legs under the damned thing....  |

then there is the other side of the coin
i always felt like the "standard height " was about an inch to high , the answer is to get the height the way you want it at the factory

i'm 5 foot 11 but i have short legs
what Bob Simmons told me to do was
sit on the seat i would be playing on and measure
from the floor to the top of my knee
(i think it was 22 inches) then he built the guitar
what suprises me is, i just measured my steel the way Herb said
and it is 26 1/4 but it fits like a glove
so what i thought was to high turned out to be 1/4 shorter . ..
after thinking about this i think Bob just made the knee levers longer for me and it worked

I’ve found that there are four main factors in your PSG not being the right height.
1. Most of us simply don’t know how to take advantage of all the adjustment our PSG provides.
2. We fail to compensate for the foot wear we use.
3. Some of us have fat thighs and some of us skinny
4. How you position yourself on your PSG seat.
There can be as much as 3’’ difference in the correct height between players with slim thighs wearing thin soled shoes seating on the front edge of his PSG seat compared to a player with fat thighs wearing a pair of cowboy boots and seating further back on his seat.
These one size fits all PSG SEATS are also problematic. |

5. We beginners have no idea what a perfect fit would feel like. We're never sure whether we need to adjust something or just practice more.

...and that's not taking account of my uneven concrete floor in the sub-basement, (which is the only place where I can play without disturbing anyone,) and my foot-warming slippers.   |
