seeking about an hour of instruction in SF,CA

Post by John Colaneri »

I've been diddling around with guitars for about 30 years; small bit of formal music training. I've been experimenting with some tunings on a cheap six-string, acoustic for about 2 or 3 months, and have had a look through the materials in the c6 book everybody gets. So, I'm at the point, where I could fool someone maybe who didn't know better, but I'm about at the wall as far as gaining technique from forums, and web pages is concerned.

I'm hoping someone of you players in SF could spend a little time with me and show me the errors of my ways, and maybe help me find some crazy jazz chord slants or something. I'm happy to pay a fee reasonable for a music lesson. I don't need rudiments or rigor. Really, I think a single meeting might do me for now. Thanks.

Hey Johnny,

I live here in SF and have been playing both Dobro and lap steel for over ten years now. I wouldn't be offering a lesson so much as a consultation. Let's hook up, it could be fun.

SF Lap Players

Post by John Colaneri »

Hi Ian,

Love to get together and do some music stuff. I think Brad Bechtel is going to come by and show me some stuff (inspect the hostages). But yeah, I'ld be glad to meet as many local players as I can right now.

Just getting used to how the forum works. (I'm a little bit of a ludite). I guess I'll reply by email as well so you have my addy?

John- I work in SF and would be happy to consult as well.

Johnny, Ian, Brad: our office is an open floor plan (fairly large), has some decent acoustics, and is centrally located in SF (Mission and 5th). I keep an old Oahu acoustic and a 6 string electric lap steel for down time. Perhaps we might investigate a periodic SF lap steel confab.

check your email Ian. Could be the beginnings of a lap steel "gang" of sorts in SF area...

traveling outside the US this week, but when I return, perhaps we can look at schedules. Best for me would be early evenings (6-8?) on a weeknight.

That's store-and-forward for ya...

I keep sending my contact info. I don't know how I'm gonna send you my address if we can't make the connex through regular email. Guess I'll try PM next.

We are planning sometime around 7-ish at this point...
