I was once told by a reputable source that there are at least 36,000 steel players in North America. One of the problems I've experienced over the years as a vendor is a lack of ways to reach that vast audience and let them know about my products and services. There have been several magazines and newsletters that have come and gone which promoted steel guitar and its related accessories. They all failed for different reasons. I am looking for ways to successfully and consistently reach that audience. Suggestions and insights based on your experience as to how to do that would be deeply appreciated.

|

Yes it is a really great forum but if I recall correctly, advertising is not allowed and it only reaches about 10% of the steelers out there. Those who are computer savvy. I'd like to be able to somehow reach the rest of the steeler community out there. Any ideas? |

Hi John - the only I know of is the for sale section on the forum - announcements are left on for 2 months per b0b - so that is one way to do it - you simply have to keep bumping it - or hope that others bump it.
I am going to try that - shows must be second.
I am going through the same with SteelSeats so if you get a great idea (or if I do) we will need to share.
see you soon _________________ Joe Naylor, Avondale, AZ (Phoenix) Announcer/Emcee owner www.steelseat.com *** OFFERING SEATS AND Effects cases with or without legs and other stuff ****** -Desert Rose Guitar S-10, Life Member of the Arizona Carport Pickers Assoc., Southwest Steel Guitar Assoc., Texas Steel Guitar Assoc., GA Steel Guitar Assoc., KS Steel Guitar Assoc. Others have advertised their products or services on here. e.g. the D2F covers, Ken Fox's electronic mods and services, Brad Sarno, Herby Wallace, etc. There aren't any prices but still post about what they have available.
This probably reaches more Steeler's than any other electronic or printed media. I'll agree there isn't any "great" method available. |

Most vendors have a mailing list of steelers. You could potentially pool the lists together for the benefit of all and even send a shared advertisement representing several product lines. But if you do, you'd better give people a way to opt out and say 'don't send me this any more'. _________________ www.JimCohen.com
