Me and my steel in a music video!
Hey Friends,
I'm kinda busting today cause I just saw a new video that was shot for Sub Pop Records artist Sera Cahoone who I play for. I have a small part with my Carter.
It just debuted on the No Depression website, and I had to share it with the folks who help me so much! Check it out at http://community.nodepression.com . It's on the main page today (6/2), hopefully they'll have a link going forward.
It's funny, my hands are way off from the song, but you folks are prob the only ones who will notice. We filmed it while playing along to the song at triple speed so the shot could be slowed down in editing later. It was dang hard to keep up with the song, even with the simple part I play!!
I hope you enjoy the video and song. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post.
Best
Jay

Pretty cool, Jay! Great song, too. I shot a hip hop video a few months ago (yes, pedal steel in a hip hop video) and they did the same thing. They sped up the playback track by 1 1/2 times when we filmed so that Twista's lips and my hands moved to the music at normal speed while everything else was in slow motion. Nifty little trick, but it took at least a dozen takes to get it right. Normally that wouldn't have been so bad, but we were outside for probably 45 minutes and it was about 15 degrees, hardly an ideal environment for an old lacquer Sho-Bud. I've only seen a rough cut so far, but I'll be posting a link as soon as it's officially released.

Hey Jay!
Hey Bro, lookin' and soundin' good! Sorry I did not make it down to see you when you were in Portland. Family obligations (baseball w/son) kept me from attending. But soon I'll get to see you I hope! Much success to you and your people!

Wow Jay! After watching the video and properly tightening the noose around my neck (which I have loosened long enough to respond to your post), I just have to say that the music is beautiful, haunting and exceptionally bleak. In other words it touched my heart and your steel part was "just right".
Don't worry, July 4th will soon be upon you and the unequaled Washington summer will be upon you and you will feel much better. My wife is from Seattle and she tells me that moods tend to get a little frayed around the ends throughout the unending cold and rainy winter.
Great palying, and have a beautiful Washington Day!
Duncan
