The decade award was good. George Straight music all night. It don't get any better than that. The steel was mixed week early but the last few songs somebody found the volume knob and PF sounded awesome.

A pretty good show, although the director could have done a better job on the close ups..seems like the fiddler got almost all the close ups even when Brent or Paul were soloing. Maybe if he actually knew the arrangements... $:\$
I thought George was impressed by the the vocal stylings of others singing his tunes. George is not much of an improviser.

I really enjoyed the show too, when was the last time you saw Brent, Paul and Stuart onstage at one time on a network broadcast (maybe when Garth won 10 years ago?) I thought Paul sounded absolutely fantastic, really made the show for me. I was really impressed by Leann Womack and Martina McBride, seemed like some of the fellas had blown their voices out a bit from touring, who knows.

I was wondering about the camera direction myself, there was one closeup of Paul that I recall, but I was listening only part of the time, (making dinner, feeding baby, etc.) Seemed weird that they would cut to crowd shots, George whenever Brent or Paul would solo, but would cut to Stuart when he'd take one. Not sure I got that.

I thought Taylor Swift did a nice job on "Run", but then that is one of my favorite Strait tunes.

My favorite part was when George finally sang, and was far and away the most distinctive, and laid back of just about any of the singers. What a gracious, humble guy. Congrats to him and his band.

best vocal performance all night was 'give it away' by jamey j. and the blonde chick who sang the crap out of it (who was she?)...she outdid all the other chicksingers...she must be getting it on with jamey (?) who's got details?
dean dillon looked cool...coulda stood more recognition..
i like george strait lots, of course...but 90% of the night could have been covered by a cardboard cutout of him with that goofy smile placed next to his wife.
paul's sound was muffled a little and i've heard him more 'on' and exciting, but geezuz, that guy must play/work 30 hrs a day...he must get tired! a great steel player/legend. i'm happy with the 40/50 cd's i've played on...i can't imagine playing on 50,000 like paul.

The blonde singer on "Give It Away" was Leann Wommack. The bearded guy was Jamey Johnson.

Just saw a few of the performances on YouTube. Lee Ann with Jamey really smoked! Alan Jackson was solid and as you mention, that improvised ride was a highlight.
