I would like to take a minute and say thank you to all my fellow veterans for their service to this country. I would also ask that on Monday, that everyone observe a moment of silence in rememberance of those who have fought for this country and never came home. Earlier today, I was wearing my US Army retired hat. As I was coming out of the post office, I had a man shake my hand and thank me for serving. I was thinking yesterday about one of my first cousins who was killed in Vietnam on 17 October 1970.
I hope and pray that all our young men and women presently in the Middle East will all get to come home sometime in the near future.
Take care and God Bless America.

From an old Air Force jet mech. let me add my expressions of gratitude to the multitudes of selfless heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice so that the rest of us can live in a free society.
Please do not take it for granted. It could be gone in an instant. Next time you see a military professional, take time to thank them for what they do. It will instill pride in both of you. |

Hey Cleat, Happy belated Memorial Day, I was listening the other night at work to Mark Levin,( I believe). Anyway there was a poll done and only 22% only knew what the reason why we celebrate Memorial Day. 78% said that it was a day off from work to BBQ.
Having a dad,three(3) uncles, and brother-in-law that have worn this countrys' uniform, I am thankful for what they have done. As previously stated in another thread my dad ran away from home when he was 16 and joined the Army. He spent his 17th birthday in Korea during an enemy shelling. After it was over his platoon sgt. found out, that he was underage; and was about turn him over to the MP's. But when asked if he was ready to go home,my dad told him, he wasn't and stayed on. My dad told me that it was the scariest day of his life. It was one of the few times he would talk about the war. There is a small town in Southeast Ohio, called Ironton. I have lived there. They have the oldest Memorial Day Parade in the United States. May they conitnue to do. Cleat I am proud of the military for the work they do. I thank God for them everyday, and pray that He brings them back home safe. Sorry for gettin' on the ol' soapbox there. Cleat, you're a good brother!

I just had a conversation with an 88 year old retired US Navy pilot. He has terminal prostate cancer but was in a great mood as he told me a story of years ago, while taking off in a C-47, with a full load of passengers one engine blew a line and oil was coming out so they returned to the base. His co-pilot was extremely well versed with this acft, left and returned with a piece of garden hose and fixed the engine. Ah the good 'ol days; God bless all our heros. |
