I've seen them live several times and it's the closest thing to seeing a Tex Williams' band on stage. Those guys swing like mad 8) . Russell, the lead guitar player is a forum member and also owns a really nice Bigsby T8. Rusty, where are you?

Here I am, Lester. Thanks for the kind words.

Believe it or not, we will actually be starting a new CD later this month. So start looking for that in about five or six years.

Olaf, thanks for making us famous! I hope JW doesn't get too big a head because we can't afford new hats right now.

For my money the Lucky Stars are the undisputed modern kings of pure western swing. Sage writes songs full of clever wordplay that actually make you want to smile (what a concept!). The soloists are all fantastic and the arrangements are mind boggling. The records are highly recommended, but the live show will knock you out with Pappy Stuckey the secret weapon on drums and occasional lead vocals. What more can you say about JW? If he had played back in the day he would rank right up there with Leon, Noel, Vance, Joaquin, etc. Sadly, they stick mostly to SoCal, but fortunately JW and Sage are both Denver raised and they do the odd gig here every couple of years. Can't wait to see them again!

Olaf,

I play six string in the Lucky Stars, but I also play steel in several bands around the Portland area. I really enjoy playing steel, but I'm afraid I can't hold a candle to JW. Them's mighty big shoes.

Thank you guys for the kindly remarks. Ouch, this darn hat..
Olaf, glad you like the Lucky Stars cd's. Like Rusty said, we're working on the next one at breakneck speed! Tim, maybe we can get you to write our press release! And as for you, Peabody, you're much too kind! When's your next tour of the US? And your next solo record??

Hi Jeremy - I'm a big fan of your steel playing - do you and the Stars have any plans to perform in NYC?

Hey JW, good to see you here too!! Not sure when I will be touring again in US, but I will be doing a guitar show on the east coast in October. Hopefully some eastern forumites will be attending it, I'll post details of the show when I know more.

Hi Jeremy. I'm probably your newest fan at the moment. Great job. Our swing band is coming back out to Ca. for a swing festival. Maybe I'll get to meet you. Roger

I was at the Lowell (MA) Folk Festival today with steel buddies Eric Stumpf and Rose Sinclair. We went to see The Lucky Stars and were not disappointed. This was their first appearance on the East coast, and we had been eagerly looking forward to this show. Their first set was magnificent, but then they turned it up a notch and blazed on the second set. Definitely the musical high point of the summer for me. Enjoyed meeting Jeremy and Russ afterwards. Both are as humble and low-key as they are talented. "Wow" is all I can say.
