I read sixty pages of this thread so I might add something substantial but I can't...was it really all for nothing ??

The square root of nothing is zero. 0 x 0 = 0
You can't get to the bottom of something that doesn't exist.

Nothing is not a prime number since nothing is not a number but the absence of a number.
Nothing IS zero. Anything more or less than zero is something.
No-thing is the absence of thing. Zero is the mathematical representation of nothing. The functions of zero are, therefore, the functions of nothing.

Actually, zero is something. This I know; because for the last few weeks this thread has been going on, I have made an electronic deposit of $0.00, each Friday, in everyone's bank account to show my appreciation of your tolerance for continuing this important pursuit.

More importantly, this coming Friday I'm doubling this amount.

... and there's no need to thank me for that. It was nothing.

Well, it's a matter of the definition of arithmetical operators. For instance, 5 x 6 means five lots of six. So 0 x 0 means no lots of nothing. I guess logic would say that if we have no lots of nothing then we must have some lots of something. On the other hand, the 5 x 6 doesn't stand on its own. The following line might read 7 x 3. So 0 x 0 must mean no lots of nothing in this part of the equation. The something could come somewhere else in the equation.

(My major at university was Mathematics, with a minor in Truth Functional Logic, so I could go on for hours on this subject)
