This picture was taken in 1945. At R.H. GARY & SON'S.
Does anyone know where it may have been taken.

Just a WILD Guess, I guess.....................

Post by Ray Montee »

Is it possible this could be a photo taken at South 11th Street, Waco, Texas.

They were active there in 1910-1914.........

Is that PeeWee King?

My suggestion............has been ignored more than once....

Post by Ray Montee »

Don:

I've stated more than once in this post where I believe the photo was taken.

You have yet to address this point.

Waco, Texas, appears to be the place, at a small grocery store located on South 11th Street. This store was located there for many, many years, and operated by the two brothers.

...and speaking of waco....

Post by John Hopkin »

...knowing that hank thompson graduated from high school IN waco, does any know for sure that he graduated from Waco High School--not just a high school IN waco, of which there are several in the area (though there might not have been then)??...i'm unable to find that specific information listed anywhere...i'd be proud to know that we went to the same school, although a few years apart...

The reply is late thanks for the info on where this place is. I found this photo in my deceased mother's trunk.

Ray,
On further inspection of this picture on the back it has written FRANK NELA, 446 1/2 HARRISON AVE., NEXT TO DURDEN'S. Do you think this could be near the same place as you mentioned.

Thanks for all you have shared.

Some additional info'.................

Post by Ray Montee »

Don: 11th Street, Waco, and Harrison Ave., are not that far apart; both being just off of I-35. Both are most likely residential areas.

Would like to be of more help but that's just about it.

About those addresses.................

Post by Ray Montee »

If my memory serves me correctly, both streets I mentioned on my post.......are within juat a block or so, SOUTH, I believe, of I-35.

They are several miles apart, I'd guess, east to west.

It would be neat if you could snag some digital photo's.?
