As I did in 2008/2009, I'm conducting a new session of my "E9 101" class. This course (it really is like a college course, it's 18 sessions over 9 months time, about every 2 weeks on Sundays, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.) covers in great detail what I consider the basic knowledge and skills every new E9 player should have.
It's the same curriculum I teach in private lessons, but with 4 fellow students so you have company in your misery (!), and at a much reduced cost.
Currently I have just one open seat left, so it's first come, first served. You must have basic experience on any stringed instrument, not necessarily pedal steel, but that is helpful.
Again, this class beings next Sunday, May 17, so hurry! Please send me a private message here on the forum, and include your normal email address, I'll send you 2 very detailed PDF's with complete info about my teaching and the course specifically.
If response here is overwhelming, I'll consider opening a second section of the course.
I look forward to helping you achieve your personal goals with our great instrument, the pedal steel.

One seat still available; if you're looking for an organized, logical, skills-building way to get started on E9, or just make more progress, this is your class.
We cover: major chords and scales, Nashville number system, palm blocking, how to hear and then play melodies, all the relative minor chords, dominant 7ths, reading rhythmic notation, major 6th chords and swing style playing, what to play for many styles of music, and more. All this is learned with academic study but mostly through playing a number of well-suited songs, so you're building a repertoire as you learn.
You'll learn a lot, and it's actually a lot of fun, too! _________________ E9 INSTRUCTION

Send this to the top.
If you ever thought of having a lesson from a true pro, this is your chance. John is both an experienced player and a gifted teacher. He has a very specific approach that will keep you engaged, teach you what you need to know, and have you playing WELL in no time. I've been taking private lessons and I can't speak highly enough of John and his instruction.
Don't pass up this opportunity.
