The Florida Steel Guitar Club's March 2009 Meeting/Jam will be Wednesday, May 13th, 2009, at 5:30PM. Location is Catfish Johnny's Restaurant, CR470, Lake Panasoffkee, Fl. (our regular Meeting/Jam place).
Come early and support Catfish Johnny's Restaurant before the jam.
The FSGC Club holds monthly Meetings/Steel Guitar Jams the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Lake Panasoffkee is exit 321 on I75, approximately 60 miles west of Orlando and about the same distance north of Tampa.

I've had several inquires about whether we will hold the monthly jams over the summer. We WILL have the monthly jams over the summer, we will not suspend them like we did one year (because of some remodeling they were doing to the meeting space).
HOWEVER, we will likely change the jam date for September since the 2nd Wednesday is only 3 days after the ISGC in St Louis. |

I have never seen Ernie not get excited about a guitar.  Yes the Emmons is different for me.

Jack, I knew, after hearing my Emmons, sooner or later you'd get a real guitar. 
Truthfully, I do love the sound of your Zum. Actually, I enjoy hearing you play and giving you a hard time

I may not make this one Linda has my Van in Ga. she removed the seats to have more room to move her houshold things here, they bought a new trailer and put it next to our house. No car to travel in again.

Here's my 71 PP D-10. It was new and either the 2nd or 3rd job I did with it. (Notice the Fender Twin Reverb Amp). This was the Dewey Reed Band and we were playing at the Eldersburg, MD community center.

If eeverthing works and Sandra is OK, she was operated on last week and has to go the Emory and do it again, Jack Conyer is coming down and we plan to drive down together. Jack said he could play his Emmons cause Kack cannot lift anything yet, Lee has asked me to play his guitar so many times I will JUst Play his new Jackson, it is so purty.

I was with him in Dallas when he and Harry were working out the details on the 8 string design and color.

Jack, I like the way we started this time.
To me it helps loosen up a bit before being "put in the spotlight".
I wished I'd thought to split up my song and let the next guy take the chorus. Probably would've went quicker that way. Oh well, it was loads of fun.
Jack D, your "new" guitar sounded fantabulous!! I knew it would in your hands. Great job by all, 'cept for my feeble attempt at playing, that is!
Looking forward to the next 'un!

Your playing was fine.
In fact I got a comment on how smooth your playing was.
Yes, it is better with the Round-Robins if you just take the verse or chorus that comes up, but you were not the only one who played the whole song.
It definately slows up the R/R process.
I need to learn more of them Gospel songs.
Never got to play them up north with a GB band.

Don, most everything I do is Gospel. Though I grew up on country I'm not all that familiar with playing a lot of it.
BTW. Who was the "mystery" steeler on the Sho Pro?
I never heard his name. He did a mighty fine job!

It was a good jam and the new "goodies" such as Jack D's new/old Emmons PP and the new ShowPro steel.
When we have fewer Steeler's as we did last night it gives us more flexibility on how we can conduct the jams. Most (if not all) like the Round Robins and that does seem to get everyone in the "mood". They are good too, as a learning tool, as we get to play some songs that we are not familiar with or play them in different keys than we normally do. It doesn't matter what the song is, Gospel, Country, Western Swing or whatever.
We'll seriously consider doing the Round Robins to start all the jams.
It was great to see Catfish Johnny last evening. He is a walking miracle and proof that prayers do work.
